Stephen Livingstone Memorial Lecture 2009
The always active QUB School of Law has announced that the 2009 Stephen Livingstone Memorial Lecture will take place on Wednesday 21 October in Room G07 Peter Froggat Centre at 5.30pm. This year’s lecture will be presented by Martin O’Brien, Programme Director, Reconciliation and Human Rights Programme of the Atlantic Philanthropies and is entitled ‘A Stock-Take: Human Rights and the Agreement- How Far Have we Come?’ .
Stephen Livingstone was a prodigious talent who held a Chair in QUB School of Law and was exceptionally prolific. He died in 2004 (The Guardian obituary) and following his death the Stephen Livingstone Memorial Fund was established in QUB. This funds studentships within the School in the area of human rights and public law. In addition, his colleagues John Morison, Kieran McEvoy and Gordon Anthony edited and published Judges, Transition, and Human Rights: Essays in Memory of Stephen Livingstone (OUP), which is an excellent volume contributed to by many of the people whose lives and scholarships were touched by their association with Prof Livingstone.
